Can I Get a Refund?
Clara's application fee covers the cost of generating your verified reports and screening results. Because these services are processed immediately, refunds are limited. However, if you believe you were charged in error, contact support@rentwithclara.com and we'll review your situation.
I Was Charged Twice — What Should I Do?
This usually happens when a renter accidentally creates two separate Clara accounts. If you were charged within the last 30 days and are being prompted to pay again, first make sure you're logged into the same account you originally used.
If you did pay twice using two different accounts, contact support@rentwithclara.com and we'll help resolve it.
Reminder: If you're applying with roommates or co-applicants, each person pays their own $49 fee — this isn't a duplicate charge.
What's Not Eligible for a Refund?
Because Clara generates your verified reports immediately and landlords make their own leasing decisions independently, the following are not eligible for a refund:
- The property is no longer available after you applied
- You haven't heard back from the landlord — response times vary and are outside Clara's control
- The landlord asks you to apply outside of Clara — while not eligible for a refund, this may violate our terms of use. Please report this to support@rentwithclara.com so we can take appropriate action
In any of these situations, remember that your Renter Passport is still active — keep applying to other Clara properties for the remainder of your 30-day window.
Is the Application Fee Recurring?
No. The $49 is a one-time payment. After 30 days, your profile expires and you can purchase a new 30-day period if you're still searching.
