This is the single most important tip. If you deposit client payments, gig earnings, or freelance income into a specific checking account, that's the one to connect. Connecting a savings account or a secondary account where deposits don't land means our verification partner won't see any income transactions to recognize.

Consistent deposits help.
The more consistent your deposit pattern (even if amounts vary), the easier it is for Clara to verify your income streams.

Multiple income sources? No problem.
Bank connection can identify and verify multiple income streams automatically. You can also connect more than one bank account if your income lands in different places. Having several sources of income isn't a weakness — it shows diversification.

Time period matters.
Clara analyzes several months of transaction history. The longer your income pattern, the stronger your verification.

Report Additional Income Sources

What If Bank Connection Doesn't Work?

In rare cases, Bank Connection may not be possible — for example, if your bank isn't supported or the connection fails. If that happens, Clara will give you the option to upload documents instead.

Document Upload as a fallback
You can upload recent bank statements, 1099 forms, tax returns, or profit/loss statements. This takes 20-30 minutes and has a lower success rate due to document format variations, so we recommend trying Bank Connection first.
